We appreciate the anxiety that a refusal decision can cause an individual and the impact on family members. It is not a pleasant experience being removed from the country or prevented from entering the UK.

How can Pahl & Associates assist me with my appeal?

Where you have chosen to appeal a decision, we will review your initial application, your supporting documents, and your refusal letter. We will draft detailed grounds of appeal giving legal reasons as to why your application should not have been refused. We may also need further information from you, either face-to-face, over the telephone or by email, to enable us to complete this.
As well as drafting grounds of appeal we will do the following
  • Liaise with you and any witnesses you may have who can speak for you at your hearing,
  • Keep in touch with the UK appeal authorities on your behalf, and
  • Represent you before the Immigration Judge when your appeal is heard, using legal arguments, case law and the government's own immigration rules and policies to present your case.

This service is available to clients who have lodged an appeal from abroad, and are therefore unable to be present at their appeal, as well as clients who are in the UK


How will my appeal be considered by the Immigration Tribunal?

The UK operates an Immigration tribunal system where your case can be heard by an immigration judge, who is independent of the Home Office/UK Border Agency or the Visa Office. This can be your opportunity to put your point of view forward and get the Home Office's or Visa Office's decision reversed. An immigration appeal may be a complex undertaking, and we therefore advise you, if you wish to make an appeal, to seek professional assistance.

Are there any time limits that I should keep in mind?

It is important for an appointed representative to lodge the appeal within a strict time frame. Lodging an appeal correctly may avoid lengthy delays. All appeals are heard in the UK and take on average 3-9 months to complete. It is not just a simple matter of filling out a form. The correct legal terminology may be important as well framed grounds of appeal will permit the appeal to progress efficiently.
